Ubuntu boots and runs, but does report this error soon after booting: "System program problem detected." I don't know what log to look at to see what problem is being reported. From within my Windows 7 VM, I can see this folder, create new folders and files in it, and read folders and files, using Windows Explorer. After wondering if it might be hanging after a particular amount of runtime, I tried rushing through the configuration dialog as fast as possible, and that attempt worked.

It doesn't matter whether the shared folder is transient or permanent. When I check settings afterward, it shows a shared folder mounted at /mnt/foo, but the guest still thinks that /mnt is empty.
I can create a shared folder using VB console > Settings > Shared Folders. The guest OS is Ubuntu 18.04 64-bit, the VirtualBox version is 6.0.10, the host is macOS High Sierra 10.13.6. I can't get a shared folder to appear in the guest.
